The Light Up Lancaster 2023 event was held on the three evenings of Thursday 2 November to Saturday 4 November 2023.
There were light installations across the centre of Lancaster and the Storey Gardens was one of the venues.
This year for the first time the Storey Gardens hosted two installations.
An installation called Crystal Flowers by Stevie Thompson of Custom Fibre was in the Copper Beech Garden.
Hundreds of recycled plastic bottles had been cut, moulded and shaped by hand into a bed of realistic, illuminated flowers of all sizes and shapes. Using fibre optics, these translucent plastics formed twisting stems and petals which changed colour and appeared to dance in the wind.
Below are photographs of the flowers in their changing colours.

The second installation called Firefly Field by Studio Toer was in The Tasting Garden.
It consisted of numerous flying light points that simulated the movements of nocturnal lampyridae (fireflies). Glowing and darting they hovered above the ground in an ever-changing pattern.
