The festival took place on the evenings of Thursday 06, Friday 07 and Saturday 08 November from 5 pm until 10 pm each day.
There were light installations across the centre of Lancaster and the Storey Gardens was one of the venues.
The installation in The Storey Gardens "Mycelium", inspired by underground fungal networks, was around the base of the copper beech tree.
Volunteers cleared all the leaves from the area prior to the artist, Stevie Thompson of Custom Fibre, setting up his fibre optic installation on Tuesday 04 and Wednesday 05 November. See the photographs below of Stevie laying out the fibre optic light cables, shaping them into the networks representing the mycelium and inserting the fungal fruiting bodies. Visitors were enchanted by the gently changing colours of alternating strands of mycelium and enjoyed activating the intervening white strands by walking past the sensors. See the short video and the photographs below. Click on an image to enlarge.
