Theme "Routes - Networks - Connections"
Friday 6 September to Saturday 14 September 2024
The Friends of the Storey Gardens and The Storey held a combined event for the 2024 England wide Heritage Open Days.
Friends of the Storey Gardens volunteers were in The Tasting Garden and in The Storey to greet visitors on Saturday 7 and Saturday 14 September 2024.
The theme for 2024 was routes, networks and connections for which we created a "Storey Discovery Trail".
As part of this the Friends created a route around the block, a short walk around The Storey locality highlighting local connections. There was a lot of interest in the walk and everyone was very complimentary about it. You can still download the map. Alternatively, if you cannot visit in person there is an online version of the route with photographs of the places and views described.

in addition to the walk there was a display of new oilcloth designs in the Storey building and in The Tasting Garden. These were created by the Friends of the Storey Gardens and their friends to celebrate 200 years of continuous provision of technical education in the local area of Lancaster and Morecambe. For a period of nearly 100 years this form of education was located in the Storey building. There was also brief information about the 12 people named in the stained glass window on the first floor of the Storey building.
