Despite the heavy rain our small band of volunteers held a plant sale and greeted visitors in the gardens from noon until 4pm. Overall 100 visitors came into The Tasting Garden, most from 3 to 4pm when the rain stopped and the sun appeared.
We were grateful for the loan of two gazebos which we erected under the large copper beech tree. Our visitors appreciated the shelter they afforded from the rain and were interested to learn more about The Tasting Garden and see photographs the garden in its original glory.
This event was an opportunity to start the public consultation required to shape our project proposals for a Heritage Lottery Fund application to restore The Tasting Garden. Thank you to everyone who spent time completing the questionnaires and talking to us.
