Friends of Storey Gardens were established to work with Lancaster City Council to enable the Storey Gardens to once again be accessible to the wider public, on a regular basis. The gardens are attached to the Storey Building, situated between Meeting House Lane and Castle Park. Protected by historic walls it is a quiet and secluded space in our city centre.
Our focus in 2016 is to obtain funding for the restoration of The Tasting Garden artwork, by American artist, Mark Dion, which is housed in the gardens, and at the same time to continue horticultural development.
Please note that we have decided to change the structure of our working sessions. Instead of regular monthly dates, we are planning to create task oriented days which we will advertise “as and when”.
On recent working days we have been able to overhaul the space on Castle Park and to create a Bee and Butterfly border in the grounds using funds received from Lancashire Environment Fund.
